Depo Kačerov

Type: Building

Description:

Depo Kačerov is one of the key facilities of the Prague Metro and historically the very first depot built for the metro in Prague.

Depo Kačerov is not only a technical center but also a place for test runs, staff training, and vehicle readiness preparation. Thanks to its location and equipment, it has become a key part of the metro operation in the capital. Although originally built for Soviet trains, it has adapted well to modern standards and now also serves the latest Czech M1 trains.

The depot is located in Prague 4 and covers an area of approximately 13 hectares. It includes a four-hall complex with an area of over 30,000 m² and a capacity of up to 185 vehicles. In addition to storage and washing tracks, there are halls for repairs and maintenance, technical workshops, compressor stations, and a fire unit. A unique feature is the rail connection to Praha-Krč station, linking the metro to the main railway network.

Over the years, the depot has undergone several upgrades, especially due to the introduction of new M1 trains. The renovations included insulation, track reconstruction, new air distribution systems, and lighting modernization. Today, the depot remains the heart of Line C operations and provides essential daily maintenance and technical support for the entire metro system. (https://cs.wikipedia.org)
